A huge shoutout to Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue for hosting this year’s 2023 Search and Rescue Winter Seminar. The ICSSAR Snowmobile Team represented us well. The two-day event covered Winter First Aid, Avalanche Skills and Rider Skills. They also created a mock rescue scenario to give attendees an opportunity to test their skills in a controlled environment.
The rescue scenario is most beneficial in times when we get a snow callout for a medical emergency and are unable to use the snowcat or get a helicopter. We have to know how to package and transport the patient with minimal gear as safely and efficiently as possible.
