Southview Trailhead
April 16, 2024
The Mountain Bike Team held a combined training with one of the ICSSAR K9 team members to co-train with his rescue dog, Dixie.
We started our team training on the Lichen It trail and then took Green Hollow to Highlands and then down the C Trail. The trail conditions are fantastic. We encountered a tiny bit of snow (off the trail) on the Green Hollow trail. The C Trail was a bit washed out and there was one large boulder on the trail about 1.5 miles up from the bottom.
Training together helps us to work on our communication skills as a team, as well as to scout the conditions of the trails and to identify the best entry points for us to take so we can respond to an actual event as efficiently and safely as possible. We also used the training opportunity to use our location sharing app, Cal Topo. The MB team members separated from the K9 team and were able to identify where he was located and the most efficient way to reconnect with the K9 team member. We look forward to future combined team trainings with the K9 Team.
