Three Peaks Recreational Area – Model Port

August 30, 2023

At 7 P.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, the Iron County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue (ICSSAR) Drone Team got together for training with their new aircraft, the DJI M30T.  The training was focused on familiarization for the pilots with the equipment and platform.  They conducted the training from daylight hours into darkness.  Staying out after sunset provided them the opportunity to test the infrared capabilities.  There were 9 team members in attendance who trained for approximately 3 hours.  Do you recall what else happened on Wednesday evening? The very rare supermoon!  You bet the team got some cool pictures of the moon!  Thank you to the Drone Team members for their continued dedication to the team.  They take time out of their day to ensure they keep their skill set strong with the aviation program and building team comradery.

We would also like to thank Brody Johnson for all of his continued support with the Drone Team and for joining us at the training on Wednesday evening.  Brody was instrumental in getting us approved for the grant for the newest Drones.  He is a Board Member on the Cedar Area Transportation Advisory Board. He understands the challenges SAR groups encounter with getting funding to purchase necessary equipment to advance our search and rescue efforts.

A tremendous thank you to the below team members for providing us with some very cool pictures and videos!  Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel.  We have uploaded the videos to the YouTube channel from the training, but we’ve also included some teaser screen shots of what you can expect to see in the videos.  #NerdingOut
