Snow team recently had the opportunity to participate in the annual winter training hosted by Sanpete County earlier this month.

Thirteen members fromt he Iron COunty Search and Rescue Snow Team participated, along with over a hundred other Search and Rescue team members from across Utah.

Most of the team participated in the snowmobile trainings. These consisted of avalanche awareness, avalanche beacon find and locate senerios, rider skills, as well as patient packaging in the back country. There were also members of the Utah Avalanche Center that helped all understand what to look for when we are in the snow.

Four members of the team participated in an ice rescue training taught by nationally recognized instructor Bo Tippets from Grand Juction, Colorado. After one full day of classroom work and a fuul day on the ice, we are pleased to announce we have 4 certified ice rescue technicians to add to our team of talented recue personnel.

We want to thank every member of our team for the deciation and sacrifice each person makes to make Iron County a safer and better place.

Huge thank you to Sanpete County and Bo Tippets with Ice Rescue Systems for this great training! We look forward to next year’s training, which will held in Weber County.
