Several members of the unit participated in a weekend long training event. We are very fortunate to have a team that is extremely family orientated, so much so, that the training weekend involved participation from family members (spouses and children)! Having the opportunity to include family members allowed them to see firsthand the situations that their parents and spouses must be prepared for when responding to a call and it gave them an opportunity to meet the rest of the team. We utilized 4 official SAR trucks and 2 official SAR Side X Sides. The weather was good in the mornings, but late afternoon and evening saw some significant thunderstorms, however, it didn’t stop or deter the group from completing the trainings. We are incredibly proud of our team.
SAR Drone Team Members discussed appropriate use of drones in varying situations, (winds and other weather events). We had mock injury scenarios to provide the volunteers an opportunity to apply medical response training in a controlled environment and we trained collectively with the K9 team.
